In recent news there is a report of the growing number of homeless people in our country. The percentage in an 18% gain over last year. This figure is alarming and is a result of many factors, such as a drastic increase in rents. At Holy Family Home we deal with homeless mothers and children every day as the demand for shelter is ever present. We depend on donations to support this service which began ten years ago this July. We do not receive any government funds for this outreach because we can only admit families that are not impacted by domestic violence issues. The majority of our volunteers are older so we can’t risk the possibility of violent intruders. Moreover there are conditions for taking government funds which would force us to accept families with older teenage boys or clients with drug and alcohol dependencies. Without these factors we are still deluged with requests from families with young children and that’s our mission. At the end of the year many charities solicit contributions from prospective donors for income tax deductions. That is why we are making our appeal to you if you are looking for a deduction for a worthwhile cause. Please consider Holy Family Home for Mothers and Children. Any amount would be deeply appreciated as costs for maintaining this service are on the rise. God bless you for your prayerful consideration. Sincerely, Father Ed
