It is with sadness that I have to announce that our longtime Sacristan at Saint Anthony Church has stepped down from his position which he held for many years. He has worked for the parish in various functions since he was an altar server when he was 12 years old. When I arrived as Pastor in 1988, Angelo worked part-time as a receptionist in the Rectory during his College years at URI. Originally planning on a career in Medicine when he briefly studied in Perugia, Angelo eventually decided on teaching, obtaining his master’s degree. He has taught Italian and Biology at Mount Pleasant and Hope High Schools. Last year he began teaching at Classical High School which is one of the top rated public high schools in the USA. Because his teaching schedule brought more demands on him since his students are challenging and highly motivated, his time devoting to his duties had become severely compromised. He is a dedicated teacher who loves his profession. This year he has five full classes in Biology and Anatomy. Reluctantly he had to submit his resignation. While Angelo will always remain a good friend to me and to our parish, he will be dearly missed. But he will now be able to spend more time with his devoted wife Sandra who also teaches Spanish full time. All of us are very grateful for his loyal and faith filled service over the years and we ask God’s blessing upon him.
